Age of Vikings at UK Games Expo May 2026

UK Games Expo 2026

The Vikings re-enactment Society is dedicated to recreating the life and times of the Dark Age period, not only the battles and skirmishes of the period, but also the dress, crafts and everyday life of the different peoples of that time.

At UK Games Expo, The Vikings create a Living History Encampment on the lawned area between the Hilton Hotel, Pendigo Lake and the NEC so visitors to UKGE can experience life in AD 950.

This year, the Chaosium Age of Vikings demonstration team were invited by the Living History Encampment organiser John Gendall, of Friends of Ardenweard, to run an immersive role-playing experience for brave adventurers wishing to experience a table-top adventure, alongside the Vikings!

We exclusively ran the upcoming Quickstart scenario 'Belly of the Beast' and the first public runs of 'Sea & Salt', with all proceeds from these events, after VAT, will be donated to the UKGE Charities.

Roleplaying with New Friends

Table-top roleplaying, I believe, is at its best when played around a table with old friends and new!

We had a wonderful time entertaining players new to the game Age of Vikings, Chaosium's D100 Basic Roleplaying game engine, and roleplaying games!

Want to try and play with your friends? Take a look at our Start Playing page.

The Vikings

Re-enactment Society

The Vikings have over 1,500 members throughout Britain, and in Europe, Canada and the US.

They aim always to provide an accurate and educational portrayal of the Early Mediaeval period whilst ensuring a memorable and enjoyable day for those who come to watch their events.

And yes, there were battles and skirmishes

The Chaosium team had a wonderful weekend playing charity games of Age of Vikings alongside The Vikings in the Living Encampment, and we want to say thank you to all the  Viking reenactors for looking after us. I wanted to express special thanks to; John Gendall (Geng) of Friends of Ardenweard, Felicity and Kieran Kirkham of Danlaw,  Imii Allen of The Vikings and Geoff Revill & Paul Maloney for their amazing support as volunteer GMs and for inspiring new players! -  I raise my horn, sloshing golden ale, smile brightly and cry unto you "Skål and til ols! May your mead always be sweet and your battles victorious."
